FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Novel depicts how true love knows no
boundaries unless we create them

Rules of Engagement by C. Michael Bennis
tells the story of a 1964 couple who create
special rules to protect their identities
and emotions during a torrid love affair

TUCSON, Ariz. - In Rules of Engagement by C. Michael Bennis, a passionate summer romance between a Parisian debutante and a University of Colorado graduate ends in heartbreak, until they meet 22 years later for a final chance to reignite an unforgettable love.

In the summer of 1964, two college graduates meet in a London club. While their attraction is palpable, Nicole, a Parisian aristocrat, is already engaged, but she can’t help but fall headfirst for Alec, a Colorado native who is a little rough around the edges. As they decide the course of their affair, Nicole comes up with the “Rules of Engagement,” and over the next nine days they agree not to fall in love or reveal their true identities. Reunited by chance over two decades later, they discover that the magic is still there.

“The story is pure imagination based on an unforgettable memory,” Bennis says. “Similar to the novel, I met a special young woman when I was in London to pick up my car in June 1964. That recollection provided the inspiration for the story, although the real life romance never progressed beyond London.”

Kirkus Discoveries states “Bennis tempts and tantalizes…this narrative has enough twists and turns to satisfy a mystery lover, and the characters are endearing.”

Rules of Engagement is available for sale online at Amazon.com and through additional wholesale and retail channels worldwide.

Rules of Engagement
By C. Michael Bennis

Sentence Description
A torrid summer romance between a Parisian debutant and a Boulder, Colorado grad ends in heartbreak until they meet twenty-two years later for a final chance to reignite an unforgettable love.

Short Description
Unrestrained passions and exotic locales are key elements of Rules of Engagement, a savvy debut by C. Michael Bennis. With a pitch perfect prose and unforgettably naughty characters, new romance author Bennis offers a winning combination that tells of the underbelly of the advertising world and the softest sides of true love. In the summer of 1964, two college graduates meet in a London club. While their attraction is palpable, Nicole is engaged to the premier’s son and is Parisian aristocracy; dutiful to a fault she can’t help but fall headfirst for Alec, a Colorado native who is a little rough around the edges. As they decide the course of their affair, Nicole comes up with the Rules of Engagement. Over the next nine days they agree not to fall in love and not to reveal their identities. Reunited by chance over two decades later, the magic is still there. One is married, one is not—both will begin to understand that love and passion endures despite time, circumstance, and reason.

Extended Description
Amusing, fun, and fast-paced, Rules of Engagement by new romance author C. Michael Bennis offers countless dramatic high notes and unforgettably naughty characters as it recalls the very essence of unbridled, wide-open passion. What begins as a timeless, torrid tale of young lust turns into a mid-life romp when two lovers are reunited twenty-two years after their tryst.

On summer holiday, Alec and Nicole meet at a London club soon after graduation. With nine days to explore each other’s body, they agree on the Rules of Engagement. The rules are simple. They agree not to fall in love and they agree not to reveal their identities. Nevertheless, despite their best intentions, their parting on the tenth day is devastating. Engaged to the premier’s son, Nicole feels as if she has no choice but to return to her native France to fulfill her duty and Alec, bent on making himself more than a hayseed ball player from Colorado, is certain he is out of his league. Years later on business, Alec, who has become an advertising wizard and bestselling author, comes face to face with this woman who he knows is the love of his life. After two decades of trying to forget the young lady that he was once unfit to marry, he feels as if the stars have finally aligned. The fact is that while there have been others no woman has ever held a candle to Nicole. While rules were made to be broken, in the case of Nicole and Alec, the question is will she bend the rules—or will he break them?

Back Cover Text
Rule number one: We never fall in love. Rule number two: We never provide information that might reveal our identities. Rule number three: Our relationship can and will be ended by departure forever. Beyond the Three Rues of Engagement, there are no further rules or restrictions.

In July 1964, on holiday two college graduates meet in a London club. While their attraction is undeniable, a future wouldn’t make sense. Nicole is Parisian not to mention the fact that her fiancé is the premier’s son. Alec is from Colorado, not at all sophisticated, not at all worldly— what he has is nine days with the woman who made the rules. It is the woman of his dreams.

On the tenth day, the lovers, true to their vows, part ways. It won’t be until years and years later that Alec, who’s turned into a bestselling novelist and a dynamo in the ad world, happens upon his darling Nicole. Face to face with true love, his is a love he has never forgotten, what is uncertain is where she stands and whether she will impose the Rules of Engagement or let passion lead the way.
